Meet Several of The Edge Photographic Team --BB & David Kay

People often ask how we select people to join our team of photographers and how do we know they are not only technically qualified but also people that they trust to share their special day.
It’s pretty simple. Over the years we’ve taught numerous photography classes and workshops for serious photo enthusiasts and also other aspiring and professional photographers.
This is a reliable pool of photographers for us. We know from the workshops that they are good photographers; we also know that they have the personality required for our kind of work. They are passionate about their art! When they first shoot events with us as third shooters they are not being taught photography, but instead style. We want brides to know the photographic style we display in our albums at the studio will be delivered consistently by all Edge team members. We show unique editorial style event photography. Clients tell us it’s “The Edge”

BB first attended our workshops 3 years ago. We quickly realized his skill and artistic eye, plus Ines knew this was a person we would love to work with. BB and I have been photographing weddings together for that time period and shared training with the famous Australian photographer David Williams and New York fashion photographer Richard Warren both here and in New York fashion studios. Last year BB became the leader of our second team so that we are able to photograph two weddings on popular wedding dates. We accomplished this task after spending 6 months training our new group of second shooters. He joins me on other dates so that we can collaborate and try new things with a solid base of coverage captured for our clients. Each of his brides raves about him; so much so that I could be jealous. Visit our studio to view BB’s latest work.

David Kay first started attending our workshops almost 3 years ago. David has not only attended our workshops but also those with Tony Sweet in the Poconos and Acadia National Park outside of Bar Harbor Maine. David recently attended a workshop with National Geographic photographer Bob Krist. He’s also had his work critiqued while attending workshops with wildlife photographer Adam Jones and Sierra Club photographer Brenda Tharp. Photographers Jim Zuckerman, Charlotte Lowrie and Ellen Anon round out some of David’s photographic mentors.
David was featured in the February issue of Elan magazine and his images also recently appeared in Shutterbug as well as many airline magazines. His work is also used for corporate publications such as annual reports, and educational textbooks. Internet sites also feature images from David Kay.
You can see more of David’s stock work at the Shutterstock.com and iStockphoto.com agencies. Finally I would be negligent if I failed to mention that David was ABC News “Person of the Week”.
How cool is that!
