This is a simple bulletin board to keep our friends, clients and peers updated on what's happening at The Edge. Don Harper and his wife Ines appreciate any feedback or ideas about the art of photography. Link Back URL is: http://www.blogcatalog.com/directory/art/photography/
Most of what my wife Ines and I do can be found at our main two websites and blogs.
Nine years ago, Don and his wife Ines opened The Edge Photography in Leesburg Virginia
Don and Ines have won countless international accolades of excellence for their portrait and wedding photography. They have also judged several photography competitions.
The Harpers live in historic Leesburg in a quaint house dating back to 1852.
Don’s love of photography dates back to grade school when he developed and printed his black and white prints in his own darkroom. He later graduated to color darkroom work and moved from a second-hand Kodak Brownie instamatic to an Agfa SLR.
Don was the team photographer for a number of National Speleological Society (NSS) Caving Expeditions lasting up to a week underground and presenting the most difficult challenges for a photographer. He also obtained his first Nikon camera and accumulated an extensive collection of lenses and lights for every photographic situation.
Later his photographic work expanded to scientific photography including ultra thin slicing of geological specimens for publication. Most notable was the publication of microscopic algae specimens that are approximately 2 billion years old. He also published early images of cardiac ultrasound images revealing the heart in a new modality. Don has photographed and produced a number of underwater presentations and also taught underwater photography and wreck diving to scuba divers.
Don says he has graduated from photography in the most difficult environments, to the most challenging subjects; Portraits of people and their pets
Ines Harper adds a unique feminine perspective and represents an important part of the creative energy you will find at The Edge Photography Studio. In her role as artistic director she coordinates backgrounds, costumes and lighting ideas to create a distinctive portrait for each client.
Ines has won awards for her album designs in two very competitive international competitions in both Las Vegas & London. Her creative skills really do transform a bride’s wedding album into the Edge work of art.
Ines’ Digital Darkroom skills rival those of any Fashion Magazine. Her subjects benefit from what she calls her painless, digital botox, and instant liposuction. These and other beauty-enhancing touch-ups lend a magical radiance to their photographs. Ines’s coffee table album designs are the best illustrations of editorial wedding photography available. There is great demand for her artistic photographic collages and painterly photographs in particular by seniors and pet owners who want a unique piece of art.
Her background in the arts can be traced to her family atelier that creates paintings sold in the best European art galleries and frequently featured on German television.
Don has studied with a number of leading photographers including:
Tony Corbell “The Master of Light”
Jim and Cathy Church innovators in underwater photography
Rick Ferro romantic wedding photography
Joyce Wilson family portraits
David Anthony Williams from Australia contemporary wedding photography
Larry Peters high school senior photography
Bob Grove at the National Gallery of Art
Recent work includes workshops with Bambi Cantrell and Will Crockett.
All are acclaimed photographers in their fields and Bob recently won an Emmy for his Adobe Photoshop work in the PBS special “Vermeer, the master of light”
Ines helps with instruction at The Edge Digital workshops and classes.
She has trained with Bob Grove from the National Gallery of Art
